What is brockway trucking?

Brockway Trucking was a transportation company that existed from 1948 to 1977 and specialized in manufacturing heavy-duty trucks. It was originally founded in Cortland, New York, by George A. Brockway in the early 1900s as the Brockway Carriage Works, which built wagons and carriages. In the 1920s, the company began producing trucks before halting production during the Great Depression.

After World War II, the company resumed production and began creating specialized trucks for the construction industry. Brockway trucks were known for their durability and often marketed as being able to last longer than other trucks on the market. The company was acquired by Mack Trucks in 1956 but continued to produce trucks under the Brockway name until manufacturing ceased in 1977.

Today, Brockway trucks are considered a collector's item and often featured in antique truck shows and parades. The company's legacy and impact on the transportation industry were significant, with many former employees credited with helping shape the industry and leading innovation in truck manufacturing.
